Title: Trembling Demon
Post by: Watchman on August 17, 2018, 11:04:09 PM
If a player opted to discard the GE, wouldn’t the good enh come back to hand since the ability is negated? (The play-as is virtually the same wording.)

“If no good Enhancements are played this battle, protect all Lost Souls from rescue. Opponent may discard a good Enhancement from hand to negate this.“

It's not negating the hand discard, just the protection, so the enhancement is still discarded.

The “this” reads like it includes the entire special ability. That’s how The Woman with Child’s ability is treated with the “this cannot be interrupted” text. It’s been ruled that the “this” applies to her protection, as well as her search ability.

I've never liked that ruling on her and I'd argue Trembling Demon is actually a good example of why she shouldn't be ruled that way.
