Title: Trembling Demon *New Question*
Post by: browarod on January 20, 2010, 07:17:08 PM
If I block with Trembling Demon while Holy of Holies is active (making his effect non-negatable), can my opponent immediately slap down Grapes to kill him and try another RA? Or do I get a chance to let him die and protect the Souls from rescue?

+1 Abilities are completed when the character enters battle.

He must decide to negate when it enter battle, he can do Nothing until that ability is complete, not even play dominant

This is an interesting question. I assume that TD's protect ability lasts until the end of the phase, which I'm guessing would mean that the LS's are protected until the battle phase, which includes the first and second rescue attempt. So I would say that the new hero cannot rescue a Lost Soul. But I'm not 100% certain.

You MUST give the opp time to play any doms after your ability finished. So they could play grapes, but since his ability was NOT negated they couldn't rescue ls.

+1 TD's ability continues through the battle phase, so a new rescue would be a BC.

maybe this will help some people:
Trembling Demon Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Orange • Ability: 0 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: If no good Enhancements are played this battle, protect all Lost Souls from rescue. Opponent may discard a good Enhancement from hand to negate this. • Identifiers: Generic NT Male Demon • Verse: James 2:19 • Availability: Faith of Fathers (Set 2)
I cant find anything except that its an ongoing protect ability- from a character. So what does that mean and what are we basing this ruling off of?
Does it only last until the end of the battle? or till the end of the phase?

Abilities last until end of phase unless negated.

All abilities? theres been so much talk between some cards playing different than other cards that i was for sure there wouldnt be a consistancy somewhere? sounds like there is a fish somewhere. and i will continue to look for it until a.) i find it or b.)i give up :)

The controversy is whether you can activate an ability after it has been discarded. In the example of Unholy Writ, it is accepted that Writ's ability is still "active" for the rest of the phase. The question (if I understand it correctly) is whether you can activate it again and again.

and i agree that it should trigger everytime that condition is met...hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle, hero in battle. Man, I love Type 2! :)
And why wouldn't Trembling Demons ability trigger everytime the condition is met? (or in this point lack of a condition being met?)

I'm not sure whether I agree with that. I'm just saying TD would continue until the end of the battle phase, not just that battle.

Quote from: TD
If no good Enhancements are played this battle
After Grapes is played, this battle is over. Subsequent battles and subsequent GEs wouldn't matter change the fact that LSs are protected until the end of the battle phase.

That's not the right way to look at it. If Grapes is played right away, no good enhancements were played that battle. That triggers the ability to protect all Lost Souls from rescue, which is an ongoing ability that lasts until the end of the phase, which is more than this battle.

If no Enhancements are played THIS battle,
Protect all LS's from Rescue. (default to this phase)

Sorry I agree with you, my last post was worded poorly. Edited.
