Title: The Wages of Sin
Post by: Watchman on June 06, 2018, 01:11:15 PM
"You may take an evil card that has a discard ability from deck or Reserve."

I want to verify if a card like Go Into Captivity (...you may discard this card to capture a Hero) or Ish's Spear (You may discard this card to underdeck a Hero) would qualify as a "discard ability" as opposed to a card like CM "Discard a Hero" or The Gates of Hell "At any time, you may discard the bottom card of deck," which are obvious discard abilities.

Under "Discard," the REG says "discard effect" but doesn't talk about "ability."  So I just want to make sure that the wording on the two aforementioned cards don't (or do) qualify as a discard ability.

They do have discard abilities. Even Sabbath Breaker does

An effect is what an ability does, so we have a term other than ability to refer to what activates after a trigger, because the ability is already active.

"[Effect] ability" means "ability with a [effect] effect".

I figured but I just wanted to make sure that in the examples I gave that they all qualify as a discard ability and that there was variation.

Thanks
