Do set-aside cards return during upkeep or prep phase?

Upkeep phase is where all counters are updated. They return then too.

Actually, that's incorrect. The default for set-aside cards returning is during the prep phase.

I think Tim Maly mentioned that this will be changed in the next REG so that they return in the upkeep phase, but for now, they are returned in the prep phase.

Correct, currently they return during prep, after the REG release they will return during upkeep. (which makes sense)
