Title: The Lord Fights for You
Post by: Smokey on September 02, 2009, 01:31:36 AM
Can I set aside my opponents hero with The Lord Fights for You?

The Lord Fights for You
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Red/Yellow • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set aside a Hero. Each upkeep phase while set aside, each player with more than one evil brigade in territory must discard an evil card in his territory. • Attributes: Based on Prophecy

Quote
You can direct the effect of the set-aside card to any character you own and currently control.

That REG quote makes me think not, but then Two Paralized by Demons wouldn't work as a battlewinner. (Or maybe me, and everyone else I've seen use it have been playing it wrong)

Two Possessed by Demons
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Orange • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set any 2 humans aside until Son of God is played. • Identifiers: NT, Connected with Demons

The default is that if a set aside targets the same alignment it only works on your own characters but if it is played during battle and works on the opposite alignment it works on either your characters or your opponents characters of the opposite alignment.

So 2 possessed by demons works on heroes because its evil and played in battle but a set aside like The Lord Fights for You only works on your heroes because its good.

Or at least something like this, I may be wrong on something

I think that quote is supposed to apply to set-asides played outside of battle.

This is probably the better quote regarding set-asides in battle.
Quote
By default, your good set-aside cards target only your own Heroes, but can target Evil Characters of any player.  Likewise, your evil set-aside cards can target only your own Evil Characters, but can target Heroes of any player.

So you can't set aside your opponent's heroes with The Lord Fights for You.

Ty, but I have another question...

Quote
Each upkeep phase while set aside
Does this phrase really mean "Each upkeep phase" or does it mean "Each of MY upkeep phases"

Only your upkeep phases.
