What's with all these cards that were just released having play-as? Super fail on someone's part.

In addition to Abomination with Desolation, The Goat with Horn can search for Goat with Horn...

The Goat with Horn (Di) +  Goat with Horn (Prophets).  Goat with Horn (Prophets) is worth 4/6 with name-on-name bonus, correct?  If so, this combo is pretty OP.

It is about as name-on-name as there can be...

Hey,

What's with all these cards that were just released having play-as? Super fail on someone's part.

The play as on these cards serves a different function than play as on other cards.  I haven't talked to Mike recently, but I'm pretty sure the play as on these cards is so that exact words are included that will automatically hyperlink to the ability type that the card has.  This card for example has "protected" in the ability which doesn't get noticed by the automatic hyperlink generator but "protect" in the play as does get noticed by it because "protect" is the ability.

So the play as on these cards isn't correcting mistakes like we are used to play as doing.

That's actually pretty cool.  ;D

Tim is correct. I added a lot of "play as" to get the wording on all cards to be the same and with the ability to hyperlink to the glossary. It is for the web. It doesn't change the way a card works in any instance - it simply uses recent language and phrases on old or unique cards.

You will sometimes find key special abilities listed in square brackets (e.g., Table of Showbread). This is in preparation for the rest of the new REG release. I wanted the automatic hyperlinks to work to the special abilities section of the REG also, similar to the way it works for the glossary. [use other enhancement] is the title to be used in the REG special ability section, and it is seldom expressed that way on actual cards.

Bottom line - I'm trying to use the same phrases to say the same thing across the board.

Mike
