We had this scenario come up in tournament this past weekend and I want to make sure I ruled if correctly.
Hero is being blocked by an EC who plays the Flood. Hero plays The Flood causing the EC to be discarded along with all of the evil cards in territories. Now the EC has SI.
Since The Flood banishes itself in order to discard all evil cards in play, the EC plays an ITB (Egyptian Horses on an Egyptian), draws cards, and plays the next enh. He plays Abandonment, causing the hero to withdrawal, which the hero doesn't have anything to counter it so he withdrawals.
Is this a case where there's just a normal interrupt where The Flood's ability is temporarily suspended, and once the hero is withdrawn, since the hero is no longer in battle when the discard attempts to deactivate can't now causing it to fizzle out, or is there some other factor given the fact that the Flood banishes itself in order to discard all evil cards?

It sounds like you handled the situation correctly. Even though The Flood banishes itself SI is still passed and the ITB will suspend The Flood for the duration of the interrupt. By withdrawing all Heroes when The Flood attempts to reactivate it finds no Hero in battle and fails.
Well done!

Thanks but since I wasn't completely sure at the time we made a compromise about the result, which was close to how it should have been played but not completely. The way I posted it on here is what I thought later about how it should have been played. Thanks for confirming.
