Does TFL ability work retroactively? Like If i used holy grail before battle and then place him in battle do i take the converted EC?

Also, Does he instead other conversions like  Preaching the Truth or is the EC green/clay now?

The ability only applies to Evil Characters converted while Faithful Leaders are active. You can rescue with him and then use Holy Grail to take advantage of the conversion, but it won't apply retroactively to characters converted prior to activating the ability.

Clay brigade is added in addition to any other brigade the character might receive from the conversion.

So you can use Holy grail in battle? Thats great to know. When in battle am I allowed to activate grail?

To clarify, you can use Holy Grail anytime during the battle phase but only on an Evil Character in a territory.

In the past it's been combo'd with The Woman at the Well and Philistine Outpost to convert the human EC put in territory before they can block.
