Can territory class enhancements placed on characters while outside battle, be negated and discarded during battle? In other words, are territory class enhancements placed on characters treated as regular enhancements in battle, even when played during Prep or Discard Phase?
Specifically, is it possible to negate and discard Hating the Light during battle after it has been placed on an evil character?
(Hating the Light - "Place on your human evil character: this evil character cannot be ignored and is protected from capture, conversion, and shuffle").

Completed abilities can't be negated after the phase in which they were played. So if you want to play a negate during the battle phase on Hating the Light played during prep phase, the placing of Hating the Light won't be negated, however I do believe that the ability would be negated for the phase.
Assuming you can target the card, it can be discarded by a Negate and Discard card.
Finally, if you are fortunate enough to have a Covenant of Noah active in your artifact pile (or on Book of the Covenant) you can negate it after it is placed on a character.
Note: This only works for ones that place themselves, this doesn't work if the card is discarded after played, since they aren't there to be negated anymore.

Thanks for your reply.

If Hating the Light can be negated after the phase it takes affect, does that mean it can also be discarded, shuffled, and removed fromt the game?

Also, are enhancments "placed on" characters considered in battle such that Grapes of Wrath can discard it?

The "place" cannot be negated after the phase, because it was an instant ability. The "cannot be ignored" and "protect" can both be interrupted or negated because they are ongoing abilities.
