Title: Take effect - what happens to contents?
Post by: Reth on April 03, 2019, 04:38:40 PM
Hi again,

did not want to abuse the BSA thread but here is my next question also related to that card (and similar ones):

What happens to contents of cards when I take these cards with BSA or similar?
For example: Opponent has new Book of Covenant up and it is equipped with YWR. Within a RA I block with BSA an choose BoC as target. What happens with YWR then? Can I take it too? - I'd assume: No.

Thank you in advance!

Bye

Cards placed on or held by a taken card follow the taken card.

Cool! Thanks for clarification. Maybe this could be added to next REG version within clarifications? Or is it mentioned somewhere else in Reg already?

This is in the REG already.

Quote from: REG
If a card is held by another card and the underlying card is relocated, the held card is generally relocated (regardless of protect effects) to the same location that the underlying card is relocated to and remains there.

To add to this that in some circumstances the held card doesn’t always follow, such as a site that’s holding a lost soul. If the site is discarded the LS remains in the LoB (unless a specific ability allows for the soul to be moved, such as Hormah). The REG goes into detail about these scenarios under the Hold section.

One more point of clarification. Although the placed/held cards "follow" they are not targeted by a take ability. So if the "taken" card goes to your hand, the held cards actually go to their owners hand.

Thanks Gabe. Is this also already mentioned within Reg?
