Title: Sinning Hand
Post by: SirTimothy on July 07, 2010, 04:21:04 PM
If you play Sinning Hand and you have Asherah Pole active, can the opponent still discard half of the cards in his hand to negate it?

Sinning Hand Or. 0/0 Remove a Hero from the game. Any player may discard half the cards in his hand (rounded down) to negate this, otherwise it cannot be interrupted.

Asherah Pole When blocking any O.T. Hero, evil enchancements cannot be negated. Discard if Gideon, King Asa, King Hezekiah, or King Josiah enters battle

I would think Sinning hand can't be negated and the hero gets removed from the game, but just to be sure.

Yep, it can't be negated. Sinning hand removes the hero.

Disagree. Its ability to negate it is CBN as well so it'd be negated.

This was asked a LONG time ago (before the purge for sure, maybe even on the EZBoards) and the ruling was that disallowing the negate is not negating the allowance for negate (as confusing as that is). So TimM and lightningninja are correct. If you play Sinning Hand vs. Moses with APole up, Moses is removed with no chance for rebuttal (not even discarding half of the hand).

Really, that long ago? I remember the ruling so it definitely wasn't the EZboards.

It probably popped up multiple times, though I guess the EZBoards stopped being used when Priests came out, so it would have been on these boards, and has since been purged.

depends. everyone switched over on july 27th, 2006 (its why most old-skool users have july 27th as date registered...which also happens to be my birthday :)). priests would have come out at nationals 2006, so it depends when nationals was.

I remember Rob made an announcement about the transition at Nats 06, and that it had just happened. if I remember right, Nats was the first weekend of August that year, which would make sense.

So yeah, I guess Sinning Hand and APole would not have been on the EZBoards.

You should bring cupcakes for everyone at NC Regionals! It's only a few days before that...

Also, July 27 is my mom's birthday.

aiy, that would be alot of cupcakes. the suite im staying at for regionals allows residents to create a shopping list online, and they'll stock the kitchen of the suite right before you get there. maybe i should send them on a grocery run for 100+ cupcakes...? :)

Hey,

If you play Sinning Hand vs. Moses with APole up, Moses is removed with no chance for rebuttal (not even discarding half of the hand).

Actually you could still discard half your hand just for fun if you wanted to (and I can even think of a strategic reason you might want to) but it wouldn't result in Sinning Hand being negated.  Other than that Prof Alstad is correct.

or, you can just discard as many cards as you want during your discard phase...

Hey,

or, you can just discard as many cards as you want during your discard phase...

That's what I did at MN State, discard my entire hand except Mayhem during my discard phase then played it to draw my last six cards in my draw pile which included Son of God.  My thought was that the playing of Sinning Hand might create some extra urgency making you want to play Mayhem before you got to your discard phase, perhaps fishing for your Grapes of Wrath.
