Scenario: Opponent attacks w/ Seraph (band to a green prophet CBN) and bands. I block and play Gold Shield to convert the prophet to silver. Would the prophet stay in battle even if he's not green anymore, since the band is instant?

The banding ability only brings someone into battle, it doesn't hold them in. So even if the Hero would no longer qualify for the band, he got in, so barring an interrupt, he stays in.

The bold parts are confusing, it's like you're saying the band doesn't hold the hero in, but then you say he's being held in because he was banded to. ???
Anyways, we played that the prophet stayed in battle, since he was green when the band happened. This is what you are trying to say, yes?

Yes, that's what he's trying to say.

The band ability adds the character to the battle, but you could interrupt or negate the band to make it as if the card did not enter the battle (of course the band in this case is CBN, so it is a mind exercise anyway). The band is like any other ability, it can be undone normally. But if it is not undone, you don't go back to look at the band at each step to see if the character is still eligible for the band. Does that make sense?
So he would stay in battle, because the band was not undone. It doesn't matter if he's silver after the effect, the band already happened.

Banding allows extra characters to enter battle. Extra characters do not need the banding card to still be there to stay in battle.
