Title: Side battles confuse me WAY to much!
Post by: Crashfach2002 on October 20, 2011, 01:11:34 PM
Please walk me through what happen in this scenario.  (This was during booster, which explains the weird cards being used)

Lets say Paladin, the Fighter (http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/Master/paladinthefighteraw.htm) starts a Rescue attempt, and is blocked by Ishbibenob.

Paladin has initiative, so he plays Wheat and Tares (http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/Master/wheatandtaresdi.htm).  The player has three Redeemed Souls, so he chooses Ishbibenob, two other evil characters & then returns three human good characters to peoples hands.

Ishbibenob has initiative and plays Christian Suing Another (http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/Master/christiansuinganotherap.htm).

What happens?

Does Wheat & Tares follow the angel to the side battle, if so does it still trigger?

If it doesn't re-trigger, then are the 3 heroes returned to the table?  (This matters because the Daniel banding characters were returned to hand, and I'll like to use them)

Here's how I believe the situation is handled: Before the ability on W&T completes, your opponent has a chance to interrupt, so if he interrupts and plays a side battle, you must treat W&T as if it were never played, complete the side battle (with W&T sitting in the main battle in the meantime), and then activate W&T if and when the original hero returns. So any characters targeted by W&T the first time it's played are still in play during the side battle, but are discarded/returned after the side battle.

I'm probably wrong on a couple things here...

That sounds about right, since ITB also interrupts the last enhancement played.

So any characters targeted by W&T the first time it's played are still in play during the side battle, but are discarded/returned after the side battle.

...If the original targets are still available targets.

BB is correct. Wheat and Tares is interrupted and suspended until the side battle completes and then reactivates if Paladin the Fighter is still in battle at that point.

*instaposted* Stamp's clarification is correct, too.
