Title: Side Battle and GoW
Post by: The_ARk on September 02, 2010, 11:33:16 PM
If you play GoW during a side battle between two ECs does it effect only the side battle or all cards including those of the original battle.

Here is the sich, I attack with a lone green hero and cause the only two evil characters in play to fight a side battle.

I play GoW to discard one EC and shuffle the other.

Does my hero walk in and get a free soul or does he also get shuffled and I need to start a new rescue attempt?

I sided with the side battle being its own separate battle and based on the way GoW is worded that it resolved the side battle but not the main battle.

is this correct?

Grapes of Wrath (TP)

Type: Lamb • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Discard an evil card in battle to shuffle all remaining characters in battle into owners’ decks. If the current rescuer doesn't have the most Redeemed Souls, he may begin a new battle. • Play As: Discard an evil card in battle to shuffle [return] all remaining characters in battle into owners’ decks. If the current rescuer doesn't have the most Redeemed Souls, he may begin a new battle. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Revelation 19:15 • Availability: Thesaurus ex Preteritus booster packs ()

Since it says "in battle," and not "in current battle," it refers to the entire field of battle, which includes your hero.

Actually, I'm pretty sure its the other way around, battle refers to the current battle only, if it said field of battle it would affect everything.

RDT is correct from what I know. It's a loophole that allows you to win 4 souls with dominants (if you include Angel of the Lord).

I need to know officially because this has become one of my favorite plays.

Nice!

what if that rescue attempt gave you your first soul. and your opponent has 3.. would you still get to make another rescue attempt?

Sword of the Lord + Siege + GoW

game.over.

Side battles put the RA on hold, so there is no current rescuer during the side battle. GoW just shuffles the side battle, and nothing else happens.

But if the original EC was in that side battle, then after being shuffled, there is no one to return to the main battle.  Thus it would be a successful rescue (assuming no other ECs could be brought in (unknown nation) or evil dominants used to stop (christian martyr)).  Right?
