Title: Self vs Angel with a Secret Name
Post by: Lamborghini_diablo on September 19, 2010, 07:00:58 PM
Self (P)
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Multicolor • Ability: * / * • Class: None • Special Ability: Abilities (*/*) match the abilities of one of opponent’s Heroes in play. If that Hero leaves the field of play, abilities become 0/0. • Errata: (Treat the special ability as an identifier) • Identifiers: Generic NT Human, Gender, testament, and other identifiers match selected Hero. • Verse: Colossians 3:9 • Availability: Promotional cards (2006 District Tournament)

Angel with the Secret Name (Wa)
Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Silver • Ability: * / * • Class: None • Special Ability: Hero's abilities (*/*) are equal to the number of Silver Brigade heroes in play. • Errata: (Treat special ability as an identifier.) • Identifiers: OT Male Angel, Prophet • Verse: Judges 13:18 • Availability: Warriors booster packs (Common)

What happens if Self copies AWTSN, then AWTSN leaves and there are still other angels in play? Self would then have two conflicting identifiers. One tells the card to be 0/0, but the gained identifier says to make the card */*.

Do the two identifiers just fight until..........

Self only copies AWASN's Ability.  Not special ability.

There is no "gained ability" or "gained identifier" because Self is not a hero.

I vote the SA overrides the identifier. No basis for that though.

No basis for that though.

Especially since neither card has a SA....  ;)

I vote the SA that was erratta'd into an identifier over rules the other identifier.

I vote the SA that was erratta'd into an identifier over rules the other identifier.

It still wouldn't work.

AWtSN would have to be in play first. Self enters play to match AWtSN's abilities and tries to match his identifier, but Self can't match "Hero's abilities" since Self is not a hero. Self's */* is linked identically to AWtSN's */*. Once AWtSN leaves play, Self's identifier kicks in and makes himself 0/0.

Self is not a Hero.
