Ruling Questions
« on: July 26, 2009, 10:36:28 PM »

I have several questions.
#1   Does Paul's Girdle return a hero from set aside to owner's hand too?
Paul's Girdle   -   Acts 21:11   Brown   EE   Return any Hero to owner's hand.

#2  If King Ahaziah is discarded does Athaliah get to join the battle?  Like if he was discarded by AoC.   King Ahaziah   6/6   2 Kings 8:24   Brown   E   May band to King Joram of Israel.  If King Ahaziah is discarded, search your draw pile for Athaliah and put her in play.

#3 Do protect fortresses defend ECs in territories from AoC even though it cbn?

#4 Can Characters abilities be interrupted?  Take King Zimri for example.  Can someone play Reach of Desperation and play the next enhancement even if he does his SA right away?

King Zimri   4/3   1 Kings 16:15   Crimson   E   Discard King Elah.  Holder may discard a crimson enhancement from hand to discard all cards in battle.  Discard King Zimri after one block.

Any input apprieciated :)

1. No. It doesn't specify so it defaults to those in play.
2. Hmm. Probably not, but I don't see why not.
3. Yes.
4. Yes.

1. No - SAs only target cards in play unless otherwise specified.  Set-aside is out of play.
2. No - it just puts Athaliah in play, not in battle.
3. Yes, you can protect from a CBN card.
4. Yes.  With Zimri, Reach interrupts the battle, which interrupts all SAs that are causing you to be losing the battle (among other things) which includes Zimri.

kk on #2 I don't see why not either because it does say put in play which includes battle and I don't know of any errata ruling on this.

Unless something specifies to put it in battle, the default is to put it in territory, I think.

Does it say that in the REG? Because I thought battle was in play and I don't remember off the top of my head any other cards like that.

All cards in battle are in play, but not all cards in play are in battle... you can view it like that

Field of Play is where the cards are located on the playing surface. Areas of Field of Play include the Field of Battle, territory, artifact piles, and Land of Bondage. Field of Play does not include the draw piles, discard piles, set-aside areas, Land of Redemption and the player’s hand. See Player’s Card Arrangement.
Well this is the definition of the Field of Play.

The Field of Battle is the area within the Field of Play where Heroes and Evil Characters battle each other in a rescue attempt or battle challenge. When characters and enhancements are placed in the Field of Battle, their special abilities are activated. See Player’s Card Arrangement.

This is the Definition of the Field of Battle.

That's a very good question, and I have to wonder if it was intended to be a counter to AoCp.

I also have another question.  If you interupt the battle do you interupt the protect abilities on fortresses?

Oh, I should probably change that. I lost to three of them today...although, they never prevented me from blocking. I had more trouble with He is Risen than TGT...And I had some exceptionally awful draws.

Dont worry, I was just trying to be funny.... lol.

For future reference though, you can rename it by editing the first post and changing the title.
