Although I know some on the West Coast aren't even awake yet, but I am curious if any new rulings were contemplated during Nats or will be determined for the 2009-2010 season (namely a clearer definition of withdraw cards as well as others). Curious to hear responses...

Nothing official has been decided/announced but a few things were being talked about in California.
-
ANB was ruled to not begin a second turn (i.e. be able to draw 3) if played on the first turn of the game... Yeah that messed me up.
-
As long as all new rulings are posted on the boards when they are eventually decided then I'm fine :P

The Magi were ruled non-royalty, despite the traditional carol...
-
If that is the case, why weren't they printed in Green or something instead? Now I will have to change my purple around...

At least the card gives them the title of "Magi". If it were called "3 Kings" and they ruled them to not be "kings", then boy would that be confusing. Oh wait...
:)

I see what you did there ;)

Really? Then is your opponent able to draw three on his turn? That ruling seems odd.

Scripture never refers to them as kings or royalty (unless you want to argue that Isaiah 60:1-7 is a prophecy), just as 'magi'. Bryon also made the ruling based on them not having a 'royalty' identifier, but I had hoped their inclusion in a purple offense with an enhancement that specified royalty meant they could use it, especially since the other one requires OT. Oh, well.

I guess the greater question then is what is magi and what did it mean in the greek?
-
It ranges from the classic 'wise man' to astrologers and astronomers (thus why they watched the sky).

The whole magi/royalty thing was discussed a couple years ago when FOOF came out. I think they should be royalty but I was shot down at the time. There's nothing scripture based to prove it, only church tradition (which also has names for all 3).

Of course we don't know that there were 3 of them either... ;)
