Title: Remove from Battle
Post by: spacy32 on October 06, 2016, 11:34:40 AM
The Throne of Grace states:

"If your human Hero is removed from battle"

How does remove from battle differ from withdraw? Is that an ability that needs edited. If a character is being withdrawn from battle isn't it essentially being removed from battle? Inquiring minds want to know.

Throne refers to any time your Hero is forced out of battle by any means, withdraw included.

TToG is basically the only way to fight evil side battle abuse other than actually using the silver bullet.

How does that effect capture. According to remove in the REG it only specifies remove from the game. How does capture work into this. what all abilities are considered removal from battle. Side battle? Withdraw? Capture? Discard?

Any ability that causes a character who was in a battle to no longer be in that battle. Removal from game is a particular ability that falls under that heading.

I think the REG needs to be updated accordingly

Removal from battle and removal from the game are already not the same thing.

What specifically do you feel needs to be updated?

The REG only has a section for remove from the game. It should be changed to Remove as an ability and state what all counts as removal.

Not everything has to be indexed. Sometimes an English word is an English word. Being removed from battle is when you were in battle, and then something made you not.

But what about convert? The character gets converted and is not able to fight on his original side anymore. Therefore the game rule forces him out of the battle.

Does it also count as removed from battle or not?

Yes it does.  The convert is taking the character out of battle.  Throne does not care if it is abilities or game rule that "removes" them.

Just a side note for consideration related to TToG is that based upon the wording the hero being removed doesn't have to be the last hero in battle, as in special initiative. It can be any banded hero who is being removed at any time that you don't want removed. TToG would work well, for example, if there were two heroes in battle and one is being removed, and the blocking EC is immune to lone heroes.
