Title: Playing cards face down

Ok strange question is there any rule stating that cards can be played face down, for some reason when I was taught redemption I learned that, but I see no support in the rule books for it.  Am I just daft or can you play cards face down?  I'm probably just daft.....

Inactive artifacts are played face down into the artifact pile. All other cards (including discards) are face-up unless a card like Ambush or The Darkness specifies otherwise.

Jokes on you then I can type without thumbs, just significantly slower 8).  *realizes how hard it is to hold a hand of cards with no thumbs* ???  Do you accept check or credit?  ;)
