can i use phillistine outpost as many times as i choose when my opponent attacks, or only once when my opponent attacks?
Philistine Outpost
Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: When you are attacked, you may discard this card or an evil card from deck to search discard pile for a generic Philistine and place it in your territory. Protect Sites from being placed beneath decks. • Identifiers: None • Verse: I Samuel 14:12 • Availability: Thesaurus ex Preteritus booster packs ()

My understanding is that it's only once as the "when attacked" trigger is only fulfilled at the beginning of the battle.
-
And if that wasn't true, it would certainly be eratta'd, so don't even try. ;)
-
um, no, not really, as gates of hell operates pretty much the exact same way.

Correct, "when you are attacked" only happens once, per Bryon at last tourney.

They are not the same. Gates says "at any time" while the Outpost says "when attacked." "When attacked" has already been defined as the beginning of a battle phase and should seem logical. I would assume that you could use the Outpost a second time if a new battle begins
From a literal perspective, I would think that if your opponent started a side battle, that would be a new attack, but if you started a side battle, then you would be attacking, so Outpost would not be triggered. Certainly a whole new battle (i.e. Grapes or Long Day) would warrant a new activation.
I am curious what others think of the side battle idea. :-\

YMT is correct on all points with one possible exception. I'm not sure that having a side battle started by your opponent counts as being "attacked". I don't see a definitionl of "attacked" in the REG. I'm fairly certain that "attacked" means - when a rescue attempt or battle challenge is started against you.

i didnt mean goh and po function the same. i was just responding how the outcome is similiar to goh as it tutors for evil characters...so it probably wouldnt be errata'd if it allowed you to spam phillistines, as goh has demonstrated to us that spamming demons isnt 'broken'.
-
Unlimited use of GoH is far less game-breaking than unlimited use of PO, because to get all your EC's out with GoH, you have to discard everything else in your deck as well.
-
and...you dont have to discard anything out of your deck everytime you use po? actually, its probably far more deck-intensive than goh, as goh has ways of getting free demons (ie bronze laver).
-
PO gets free generic Philistines. Discard the guy you want, then search for him.
