Title: Philistine outpost

If I attack with a hero and during the battle play a side-battle enhancement, can I make my opponent's character enter battle first?  And if so, even though it is an evil character, can this trigger Philistine Outpost's ability?

Philistine Outpost (TP)
Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: When you are attacked, you may discard this card or an evil card from deck to search discard pile for a generic Philistine and place it in your territory. Protect Sites from being placed beneath decks.

No, you are not being attacked in a side battle.

Correct. In a side battle, there is no attacker, and no blocker, so anything that triggers off of an attack or a block does not get triggered in a side battle.
