Title: Outburst of Anger
Post by: Minister Polarius on September 01, 2009, 05:32:03 PM
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Gold • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Hero is returned to owner's hand. A new Hero must be placed in battle or rescue attempt fails. • Identifiers: NT, Depicts a Weapon • Verse: Galatians 5:20-21 • Availability: Apostles booster packs (Rare)

I was surprised to find that this card was a rare. I am also surprised to find that it does not have a Play As. But my question is this. Outburst says that a new Hero must be placed in battle, but does not make any provisions to allow that. 1. Is it just clarifying text or 2. is it an ability that really has no way of mattering and is thus moot?

*EDIT* Same with Temptation.

I'm not sure why you say it does not make provisions to allow that.  It says right on the card to place a new Hero in battle.

No, it says that you must or the RA fails. It doesn't say that you get to because of it.

Hey,

I was surprised to find that this card was a rare. I am also surprised to find that it does not have a Play As.

Apparently you are far too easy to surprise :)

Any withdraw sort of ability that mentions replacing the withdrawn character with a new character allows the player whose character withdrew to place a new character in battle.  Outburst of Anger should have play as for the second sentence that says, "A new hero may be placed in battle." (or something like that.

No, it says that you must or the RA fails. It doesn't say that you get to because of it.

So when Confused says opponent "must" discard a card from hand or battle, that's not a discard ability?

When United Army says all warrior class Heroes "must" the battle, that's not a banding ability?

When Tears for a Friend says that all players "must" reveal their hands, that's not a reveal ability?

When Herod the Great says Heroes "must" return to their territories, that's not a withdraw ability?

When King Abijah says opponent "must" give holder an unoccupied Site, or discard a card from hand, that's actually only a discard a card from hand ability?

Is that really the price you want to pay for assuming that "must" somehow turns an ability into not-an-ability?
