In a game tonight and my opponent was using Kindness (TEC) and Abom.
A couple times he skipped passed the upkeep and went to his prep phase and neither of us remembered Kindness until after he had used artifacts, put down characters, etc.
Eventually he remembered Kindness had not been done. At that point, what is the proper way to fix the gamestate? I suggested we do Kindness (non-optional ability), but since it was happening past his upkeep phase he should not be allowed to use Abom (optional ability). He agreed that was fair, but we wanted to get some further input.
Thoughts?

I agree with the handling. If you can correct a mandatory ability triggering, you should, and this one is super easy to correct.
However, if you miss an optional ability like Abom, even if it was to trigger off of a mandatory that was also missed, that shouldn't be done because there isn't anything to 'correct' because no rules were broken.
