Title: New Jerusalem-site card
Post by: slugfencer on June 01, 2009, 08:11:56 AM
type 2-A player makes 2 rescues with his new jerusalem site, and it is discarded. Then uses another of his new jerusalem site to get 2 more rescues. Is that cool?
Thanks!

Per game means per game, unfortunately.

That's true.  I'd never realized that about the NJ Site.

Actually, NJ site doesn't discard itself after 2 rescues...

What gives you that idea?

I think that after two rescue attempts with it, the card would simply be unable to enter battle but could still be used to put a Lost Soul into.  You all ask why would I put a lost soul into a multi color site, well there are plenty of cards that make that a valid play. ;)

Yeah, You can still use NJ for several things after it is used up.  Kirk opened my eyes to this at Ohio State.  The wording does not say yo uhave to disard it, it just prevents you from using it for a rescue attempt.

What gives you that idea?

Promised Land specifically states on the card that it is discarded after two uses.  New Jerusalem does not.

Also, from the REG, Ongoing Abilities -> Access to Sites -> How to Use
Quote
Access sites return to your territory at the end of battle unless the site card specifically instructs that it be discarded (e.g., Promised Land).

Therefore, you can enjoy discarding your NJ site if you like, but I'll keep mine around to use for the Hand d/c, Deck d/c, or Site Guard LS or for Trumpet Blast fodder.  ;)

On another note, I disagree with Polarius.  NJ specifically says "This Site may be used for no more than two rescue attempts per game."  Sites are generic, so unlike artifacts with per game usage limitations (eg. Holy Grail), which are unique, usage of one copy of NJ has no bearing on other copies.

The rule doesn't relate to "generic vs. unique". All it says is:

"A 'per game' ability applies to all copies of the card and is not reset (e.g., return to pile)."
- Ongoing Abilities > Miscellaneous > Default Conditions
