Title: Negating a CBP instant ability
Post by: Kevinthedude on December 20, 2016, 10:59:31 AM
So I was thinking about negate and how it's not really a unique ability and actually just a shorting of interrupt and prevent, and then thought about how that affects negating an instant ability that cannot be prevented. For example, if Doeg blocks with King Saul in play and attempts to discard the rescuing Hero but the hero tries to play GiED to negate Doeg, it would seem to me like the Hero would still be dying because after it interrupts Doeg, it can't prevent him from activating again after the interrupt is completes. Is this correct?

Doeg: "...discard a hero. Cannot be prevented by a good card"

GiED: "Negate special abilities on human Evil Characters this turn."

No, this is not correct. Since the negate was played after Doeg, the ability is negated. A negate played before Doeg would have no effect.

I like how you just assume everyone will realize what GiED stands for...lol, took me a couple seconds to figure that one out.  :P

Yeah it was actually harder than I thought to find a GE that negates a character and wasn't a battle winner.
