Captain of the Host band VS. Goliath Promo
Can you play Eli's Sound Advice on Moses?
The Strong Angel VS. the Entrapping Pheraisees
Asahel+Foreign Sword VS. Goliath Promo
Will somebody please explain how all of these resolve in battle?
Thank you.

1. Goliath kicks the captain band out of battle
2. Unless Eli's sound advice is CBP or CBN it will only count as numbers on Moses unless Moses was negated by an artifact or punisher lost soul
3. If the entrapping Pharisee is CBP or CBN then the strong angel doesn't work against the character but if entrapping is not CBP or CBN his ability will not work
4. Foreign sword can not negate Goliath bc Goliath is CBN. If asahel was a Canaanite he could place Goliath in opponents hand prior to battle but Goliath would still be able to enter play from your opponents hand.

Eli's Sound Advice is CBP, so no, Moses does not negate it.
Entrapping Pharisee is CBN, so no, The Strong Angel will not negate it.

True, but EP only targets a human so it will not capture TSA.

1. Goliath because he is "warrior class"
2. Thanks Westy
3. TSA because he is an "Angel"...thanks Gabe
4. Foreign Sword also says "cannot be negated"... ??? Who wins?

1. Not exactly... Captain cannot negate a card that cannot be prevented (CBP) or cannot be negated (CBN)
3. Again, TSA cannot negate a card that cannot be negated but The Entrapping Pharisees cannot work anyway because TSA is an angel.
4. Foreign Sword can be negated... It says Negate but a card that cannot be negated means what it says. Besides, Im pretty sure that Asheal is a Giant-slayer so Goliath can't kick him out of battle, but you get to add another Character to battle.

Ok...if I'm getting this right.
A card that says ..."Cannot be negated." takes presidence over a card that says "Negate... something"

Correct. You cannot negate something that says "cannot be negated."

Asahel is not a Giant-Slayer. He is, however, protected from return abilities so Goliath cannot kick him out because of that.

... so Goliath can't kick him out of battle, but you get to add another Character to battle.
Actually, if any character remains in battle you are not allowed to present a new character. That's a more recent ruling (last spring?) and maybe not the way you originally saw Goliath played. It's one of the key reasons we added the ability "Present" to the PDF REG.

Oh, I didn't hear about that ruling. I just remember that it was played before that you can add another to battle regardless of the first half of the effect, which I didn't like that much... Thanks for the heads up!
