What is the definition of the evil character losing in the battle?
-
very good question sir
-
From the Glossary:
Defeat
Defeat is caused when a character’s toughness is less than or equal to an opposing character’s strength. A defeat also occurs when a character is stopped from achieving his goal in battle. A Hero(es) is defeated when the Hero(es) in battle are discarded, repelled or otherwise fails to make a successful rescue such as in a stalemate. The Evil Character(s) is defeated when the Evil Character(s) in battle are discarded, ignored or otherwise fails to stop the Hero from making a successful rescue such as in a mutual destruction by numbers.

He didn't ask about being defeated, he asked about losing. Does playing DoU result in a loss for the now-Discarded EC who did stop the RA?
very good question sir

We've always ruled it as a loss since the character was discarded - However I'm not sure how we came to that conclusion, or if it should be played that way. I'll have to do some reading in the old threads about it.
-
DoU causes the EC to lose the battle, which is not the same thing as the rescue attempt succeeding.

Losing is being defeated.

Most likely from the quote I gave above, particularly the bolded part.

It'd work kinda like this scenario:
You defeat me via whatever means.
I bury the LS.
EC lost? Yup.
RA successful? Nope.

What is DoU?
