So lets say I make a rescue attempt
I play a card to force and evil character side battle
I enter with pagan sailors to activate burial shroud
Let’s say I win the rescue attempt
Do I get a soul?
Is my opponent unable to rescue next turn?

I believe you would get a soul but when it comes time for your opponent to take their turn they couldn’t attack and then after their turn you can’t attack

Pretty sure Shroud only cares about starting battles. If the rescue attempt was already started before Shroud activated I don't think it would affect anything in that battle.

Yes exactly my point . I asked this question and I believe redemption Aggie responded with that it wouldn’t affect the current battle but only the next two battles

Doesn't Pagan Sailors only work when blocking?
Or was it changed?

Yes.
Correct.
This combo has been possible since Burial Shroud was first printed...since Meal in Emmaus was printed in the same set... ::)
