Title: Meal in Emmaus question
Post by: Townsend on July 13, 2010, 03:44:43 PM
Say I make a rescue attempt with a green hero (doesnt matter which one) my opponent blocks with an evil character (doesnt matter which one) its my initiative so I play meal in Emmaus I choose to activate Burial Shroud what happens does the battle immediantly end?

Meal in Emmaus- Interrupt the battle. Holder may activate a new artifact.Artifact takes immidiate effect. Previous Artifact is negated.

Burial Shroud- Holder may not make a rescue attempt or be attacked. May be used twice.

Burial Shroud prevents you from making an RA. Since you have already made the RA, you can't be prevented from doing so. So it's actually one of the best ways to use Shroud, as you can stop your opponent from attacking next turn, all the while letting your RA to go on unhampered. Combo it with Hidden Treasures, and it's pretty brilliant.

Hm...I didn't realize this before. So, I can activate some instant ability artifact like Captured Ark or Holy Grail or something, RA with a green prophet, play Meal, and play a battle-winner, and I win the battle, stop my opponent from rescuing for two turns, and get to activate an artifact in addition to Burial Shroud, and all I have to sacrifice is my next rescue. Nice...I might consider this in future prophet decks.

Justin used the Meal/Shroud trick in a T2 deck awhile ago. In that case, it works best with Provisions, because you can choose someone who will have initiative after Meal is played to use a battle winner.

Probably the biggest problem is Captured Ark though. I have seen Shroud in very few decks since it came out, just because it oftentimes hurts you more than it helps, since you lose your chance to rescue but your opponent can use CA.

It can hurt you but I think it mainly helps you out because if you have no ECs and may not have any HEs either so it can help you out that way.

You already can use it during battle. However, pay close attention to the errata:

Holy Grail
Type: Artifact • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Holder may convert one human Evil Character per turn into a Hero in the brigade color of Holder's choice. Holder is limited to two such conversions per game. • Errata: Holder may convert a human Evil Character in a territory to a Hero in brigade of holder's choice once per turn. May be used twice per game. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Matthew 26:27-28 • Availability: Warriors booster packs (Rare)
