See if you catch on:
Protect evil Kings of Israel in your territory from opponents. When you play a Samaria Site, increase your evil King of Israel 6/6 to decrease a character 6/6.
A card is considered "played" (1) when its special ability activates or (2) when it is put into play – except by a "place" special ability or a "holds" identifier.
Search your draw pile for one Samaria Site and put in play. Land Purchase cannot be negated. • Play As: Search your deck for one Samaria Site and place in play. Land Purchase cannot be negated.
Which one should I use? One works with Gates, one does not.
-
Disregard errata disguised as play-as. Especially errata that makes no sense.

"Regard errata disguised as play-as" is, according Underwood, an outdated notion.

Gates of Samaria
Type: Fortress • Brigade: Multicolor • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Protect evil Kings of Israel in your territory from opponents. When you play a Samaria Site, increase your evil King of Israel 6/6 to decrease a character 6/6. • Identifiers: None • Verse: II Kings 7:1
Are you asking whether this applies when only you play Samaria or if your opponent plays Samaria? Since you did not ask a specific question, how do you expect an adequate answer?

I meant, do I use the printed SA for Omri (Which works with Gates of Samaria), or the play as (which does not)?
-
I think we're all aware that King Omri has not received errata, right? The printed ability works as written.

Obviously not, hence the topic.
-
Well someone else was arguing with me that he shouldn't work. I wanted confirmation that he does.

You've got it. :)
-
Yeah, of course it works. Gates of Samaria doesn't care how Samaria ennters play, just as long as you play Samaria after Gates.
-
I am the law!
-
Omri works. My poor Judges.
*Goes to search for the Judge with 7 defense to add to his deck*
-
Moses after a Chemosh and a round of Prayer and Fasting?

Why not counter omri and gates with a nice Samson's Sacrifice Sandwich?
-
Ibzan is a 7/7 gold judge, he was in the FooF tin 2, he's the one who makes good judges enhancements CBN. I already thought of gates with Ibzan and putting him in Judges Seat
-
Jair + seat is generally all you need. I don't see many */2 or */1 evil characters running around.
-
All you ever needed was 3 offense. Alternating Crown of Thorns with JS will kill everything with Jair.
-
Jair should have said "while this character remains in play."
