Is he restricted to only using "John" (as in the book of John from the gospels) enhancements, or can he also use I, II, or III John enhancements?

John the Apoc - May use John and Revelation Enhancements. John and Revelation Enhancements from John and Revelation played on him cannot be negated.

When specified in special abilities, references are exact matches only. So no, he doesn't get to use I/II/III John enhancements regardless of brigade.

Sorry for resurrecting this: So does this mean enhancements of John and Revelation of John regardless of color (or even brigade)?

Yep. That’s the part of his ability that reads “May use John and Revelation Enhancements.” It’s a shortened way of saying “regardless of brigade.” Same with Angel of Might from RoJ.
