A white N.T. female is blocked by a crimson Evil Character. The blocker plays Great Image. When the Hero gets initiative the rescuing player plays No Need for Spices and choose to ignore crimson. The only Heroes in the rescuer's territory are N.T. females. Are they discarded by Great Image?
Great Image
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Crimson • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: All opponents' Heroes in play that are not in the Field of Battle at end of this battle must be discarded.
No Need for Spices
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: White • Ability: 3 / 4 • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate evil immunity. Female N.T. Heroes ignore one evil brigade in battle.
-
Ignore means that the ignorer can't affect the ignoree, and the ignoree can't affect the ignorer. Since Great Image is ignored, it can't affect the NT females in territory.
-
The question is though, do you have to ITB first because Great Image was played first?
-
Great Image doesn't activate until the end of the battle, by which time NNfS will have been played, right?
-
No. Great Image doesn't trigger until the end of battle, after the NT females have started ignoring it. It tries to affect them during battle resolution, then finds that it can't.
Edit: instaposted

So Great Image doesn't even choose targets until Battle Resolution?
-
It does, but a triggered ability doesn't activate until it's trigger is pulled. At that point, the females are ignoring it.

So Great Image doesn't even choose targets until Battle Resolution?
Would characters banded in after Great Image was played be discarded after battle anyway? I would answer your question with a yes.
EDIT: Contrainstaposted. :P

I disagree. Great Image states that only heroes "that are not in the Field of Battle at end of this battle" are discarded.

Exactly.

When the battle is done any characters that were in battle are not discarded by great image and any characters out of battle that are protected from discard abilities or ignoring crimson would survive.

Hey,
When Great Image is played in battle it activates. Activating Great Image simply throws out a trigger that says it's going to do something at the end of battle. At the end of battle, targets of the discard ability are identified and then the effect is carried out. Since the targets are not declared until battle resolution, making the characters ignore (or immune to) crimson between the playing of Great Image and the end of battle will allow them to survive.

And there you have it...there is a need for spices... :D

Because players of crimson will think the ruling stinks. ;)

Who even uses that anyway? ::)
