Was Bethany in Samaria? I am not sure...but I highly doubt it..especially with the low regard for Samaritans, hence probably why they were used in probables.

No.  Bethany was in Jerusalem (http://www.sacred-destinations.com/israel/jerusalem-bethany.htm), which is part of the Kingdom of Judah.  Samaria is a separate city in the Kingdom of Israel.

I think we had better rely on direct reference to someone being Samaritan - not rely on where they live. In the NT time period, it was common for people to live outside their national boundaries. If the Bible says explicitly that one is a Samaritan, then that decides it. That is the rule I will follow in generating the list of cards in this category.
