Title: Intro Prep Phase
Post by: Warrior_Monk on October 17, 2011, 11:19:25 PM
How do set-asides work with the intro prep? If you set something aside during the intro prep, does it count as a turn once it hits your upkeep phase?

What about artifacts? If you activate Burial Shroud during intro prep, does it count as a use once it hits your upkeep (or prep or whenever it counts as a use)?

Link me to the teams rules please, I can't find them. I have a good idea. I'm fairly sure the answer on the set aside is no. (In fact, I'm like 100% sure. I just don't know why).

Have fun sorting through it all.

I can't read. Can you record yourself reading it outloud and upload it please? If you can do it with an overly stereotypical Irish accent that'd be great.

Also, message inc.

I think that this is actually handled differently in different parts of the country at this point.  My original intent was for "intro-prep" phase to be just like a regular "prep phase", and therefore you could play set-asides and activate artifacts etc.

However, I think there are some parts of the country who have been playing with a much more limited "intro-prep" where people can't actually play set-asides or dominants or activate artifacts.

If you are in a part of the country that allows the more complete intro-prep phase (which is my pref), then I would rule that all counters are increased on your first upkeep phase, just like a normal upkeep phase.  If you are in a part of the country that has the more limited intro-prep phase, then it doesn't matter because you can't play those cards anyway :)

I would like to request a specific rule set for Teams play, if it isn't already under way. It is an official category and should have official rules. I can only imagine getting a ruling totally flipped at nationals because different judges rule differently.

Heck, in Western NY, you aren't even allowed to bring your own deck.

I know I've asked about dominants before, and several elders told me no. Letting me play Mayhem in intro prep defeats half the purpose.

Can I use SWJ in intro prep?

That would be dependent on where you play.

Which is a problem since this an official category, should be the same everywhere.

Usually on a table, kinda roundish.  Occasionally on a floor.

Why are you racist against rectangular tables?

Up until last week, all we had were round tables.  We just got a square one, so we're ADA compliant.
