Title: Imitate Question
Post by: Crashfach2002 on September 11, 2017, 11:34:58 AM
This came up in a game this last weekend and I didn't know hot to rule it, so I wanted to ask here.

Imitate says: "Each Upkeep, you may copy the special ability of another N.T. Lost Soul for one round. (Activate the special ability as though you just drew the card.)"

What happens if someone Imitates a 2 Liner: "Errata: If rescued, this Lost Soul remains in play instead. Limit once.  While in a Land of Redemption, it counts as 2 Redeemed Souls. Cannot be negated."

So the question is what happens if my opponent Imitates the Liner and I rescue it?

The Two liner should be an OT Lost Soul not a NT Lost Soul. Thus Imitate cannot copy it.

Lack of sleep is a terrible thing!  I knew something about the situation didn't make sense!

If you really want to melt your brain, look up Lacking Sleep in ORCID... ::)

You shouldn't encourage that...

Also, Imitate specifically says to copy the special ability.  Isn't it ruled that both the 2- and 3-liners have identifiers, not special abilities?

It has changed a few times, currently going by ORCID they are CBN abilities.

Correct^^

This is also reflected on the current Errata list posted here on the forum.

The errata listed here on the forums isn't quite the same as in ORCID. Will the errata thread be updated to mach ORCID or vice versa?

My guess is that the errata thread will be eliminated and replaced by ORCID. We don't like to try to upkeep the same information in multiple places. That only leads to errors and inconsistency.

Always glad to see Redemption info being consolidated. I hope though that a removal of the errata thread will be accompanied by a sticky'd post about ORCID in its place. AFAIK the only way to know about ORCID currently is through LoR which, as good of a resource as it is, I doubt every forum member stays completely up to date with.

Once the REG 5.0 is released, and the initial errors with ORCID are fixed, ORCID will be released on the Cactus Website. Since it was ready to go before REG 5.0, we wanted to "pre-release" it, so like I mentioned in the article, it's not technically official until REG 5.0 is released. There will definitely be a link on the forums to it then as well. Appreciate the feedback!
