Title: Ignore ability in battle
Post by: TXJonathan on November 17, 2008, 07:08:11 AM
If an evil character is being interrupted and ignored by an enhacement that cannot be negated, can the ignored evil character gain initiative to play an enhancement that does not effect the hero? My opponent claimed they could play and enhacement. I always assumed the evil character immediately returned to territory since the ignore ability is an interrupt and it cannot be negated. The cards in question are King Jotham playing Royal Parade using Throne of David verses one Assyrian Archer. Can somebody please clarify?

King Jotham
Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 6 / 7 • Class: None • Special Ability: Enhancements played on King Jotham cannot be negated when played against warrior class Evil Characters. • Identifiers: OT Male Human, King (Judah), Royalty, Fought Earthly Battle • Verse: II Kings 15:7 •

The Throne of David
Type: Fortress • Brigade: Multicolor • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: When your purple brigade King is blocked, if no Evil Character in battle has a weapon, you may draw X cards and play an O.T. purple brigade Enhancement. • Attributes: X = the number of evil brigades your opponent has in play • Identifiers: X = the number of evil brigades your opponent has in play • Verse: I Kings 2:45 •

Royal Parade
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 1 / 1 • Class: None • Special Ability: If used by royalty, interrupt the battle and ignore one Evil Character. • Identifiers: OT, Connected with David • Verse: II Samuel 6:14-15 •

Assyrian Archer
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: 3 / 5 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: You may discard a Hero in a territory. If you do, discard this Evil Character after battle. May band to an Assyrian. • Identifiers: Generic OT Male Human, Assyria, Fought Earthly Battle • Verse: II Kings 19:32 •

AFAIK, ignore basically transfers infinite initiative to your opponent, but you'll win the battle and your dude cannot be harmed. It's great when they have a standalone defense, but not so great if they're playing Pale Green or Crimson with tons of nastiness waiting to kill you.

That is correct.  Being ignored gives you initiative, and you can play Enhancements, but you cannot target the ignoring Hero.  As a result of this, unless you interrupt the ignore, you cannot do anything to stop the fact that he is winning the battle.  The potential upside for you, is that means you will have initiative for as long as you want to keep playing other cards.
