Title: Hand Limit and Abomination of Desolation
Post by: TimMierz on August 05, 2009, 01:12:22 PM
Abomination of Desolation: "If used by a Greek, place in opponent's territory. Each time opponent draws cards (except during draw phase), you may discard a card in that territory except a Lost Soul."

My opponent has 16 cards in hand and Abomination in his territory. He is supposed to draw by the special ability of a card, but gets no card because he's at his limit. Do I get to discard one of his cards?

No Abom because there was no draw.  A game rule stopped the draw from happening.

Play Feast of Trumpets next time. ;) ;D :P ::)

Okay, that's what I wanted to hear. If there was something like, "There was a draw, he just drew zero," I would've been unhappy because it sounds ridiculous, but I wouldn't've seen that as unexpected.

I'm considering playing again just to build a new deck and to see if the game's gotten more or less fun as the battle phase continues to fade away, and this came to mind.

I hope that you will play again.  You know how much a fan I also am of the battle phase, and I think that these new cards will help to reinvigorate it :)

I prefer the turn phase epicness myself. All the manipulation is awesome. Epic battles are also fun, btut aht's why I play BD.  ;)

Truer words have seldom been spoken. BD can have the most epic battles ever. When was the last time you blocked a rescue attempt, played five evil enhancements, and still lost the battle because your opponent also played 5 enhancements, in a regular game?* Or how often does a Joseph actually get to put on his Coat and gain initiative to use all brigades, and then have Coat discarded by Yoke of Iron?** Only in Booster Draft my friends, only in Booster Draft.

*Happened to me in my last game of BD
**Happened to my sister in her last game of BD

For these reasons, is Booster Draft my all-time favorite event at Redemption tournaments. I much prefer long, epic battles to a battle winner (or battle winner, negate, another battle winner).

Hey,

When was the last time you blocked a rescue attempt, played five evil enhancements, and still lost the battle because your opponent also played 5 enhancements, in a regular game?

That happened to your sister when she was playing me in a "regular" game on Saturday at regionals.

Tschow,

Tim "Sir Nobody" Maly

Why did you stop playing? That is sad...  :'(

No players nearby, having plenty of other better games that I get to play a lot, not enjoying online play largely due to RoA cards

And you'll enjoy playing online now?

*draws pictures of trying to use Orange because it's awesome, but there is no reveal bottom card button :(*

Or a shuffle hand into deck button. Much more important with mayhem, and would be nice for Hur and Love at First Sight. I guess GamerX isn't really around these days?

No. Supposedly there's some official Redemption program that's supposed to have come out "real soon now" for over a year, sometime around the release of Duke Nukem Forever.

Hrmm I may regret saying this, but who programmed RTS, what language was it programmed in.  I am a software engineer, I may be able to look into some major fixes for RTS.  Who is this Gamer X of which we speak?

I believe it was done in Visual Basic. The changes that need to be made to get RTS up to speed are few, but Gamer X (a regular member of the community years ago) pretty much disappeared some time before the release of Priests.

Eww VB.  *sigh*  Where is the source code for RTS located?  Do I need permission to edit it?

The RTS website does have links to his email, at least at the time. Perhaps you could trouble him for the source code.

Sounds like a sigh of regret already.

If you get it, remove the code that Prof Underwood found that shuffles decks too well unless you reset 3 times. ;)

LOL haven't touched VB in about a decade, its archaic and junk but whatever :)  I will see what I can do.  No promises though.

RTS 2 is being actively worked on.  Anyone that was at Nats on Wednesday knows this :)
