Title: Glory of the lord
Post by: Yankee1 on April 20, 2009, 02:54:04 PM
Glory of the Lord... Holds Solomans Temple which holds Book Of The Covenant...which can hold two active artifacts...are the covenants protected from discard by Solomans temple...I know Botc is protected by St...but what about what is in Botc..Thanks..Coth

6/11/09...I would like to raise this question again!!!  It seems it is agreed the covenants are protected because they are in the temple. That  would mean that the covenants would have to be temple Artifacts or they couldn't be there...Right?????...Well I do not think any of them are! So what do you  all think????

It would seem to me that the covenants are also in the Temple, and therefore protected.

That's what I was thinking too, but check out the ability:

Glory of the Lord
Type: Lamb • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Place in territory. Holder's Solomon's Temple and the artifact in it cannot be discarded or negated by an opponent. Discard this card if Asherah Pole is in holder's Solomon's Temple. • Play As: Place in territory. Holder’s Solomon’s Temple and the artifact in it are protected from being discarded or negated by an opponent. Discard this card if Asherah Pole is in holder’s Solomon’s Temple.

Note that it specially says "the artifact" and not "the contents" (or something similar).  That would seem to only protect BotC.

Covenants in Solomon's Temple are activated as Artifacts.

The Covenants are protected.

Right, I know, just wasn't sure if GotL protected only a single artifact (as evidenced by "the") or all artifacts in ST (as seen with "contents").

It would seem to me the card was simply worded that way because there was no card then that had more than one art at a time....

Makes sense.  Sorry to bother.

Not at all, I"m not even sure if I agree with that.  The card's wording if taken literally has a gray spot.  A play as would be nice here to change to "all artifacts in S Temple" or something like that.

I'm just guessing it is a wording issue.

It's not a bother.  ;D

They way I look at it is from my opponent's perspective. They have a card that will discard a covenant. So they plan to target my I am Holy, which is activated on my BotC, which is in my Solomon's Temple. So they have to ask themself, can I target IaH? Checking the SA of Solomon's Temple, they see that the artifact in ST is protected. IaH is activated as an artifact in ST, so it is protected.

In short, let the covenant that they want to target be "the artifact."
