No, it specifically clauses it that the 2/2 only occurs "while this card is in play".

Outdated wording. if that card was printed today it wouldn't have that clause. And then what about covanant of salt? It doesn't have said clause.

Disagree. There was a distinction made awhile back that specified that ongoing ability increase/decrease cards (artifacts, fortresses, placed enhancements) were not permanent (the card in question was Plagued with Diseases, which would be OP'd if ruled the other way) but that cards that are only active in battle (enhancements, characters, etc.) made their increase/decreases permanent unless otherwise specified.

I have never heard of that ruling, but if it is in place then Salt only gives a permanent increase if played in battle.

should this go on the unresolved rulings thread? 

What exactly is the current ruling on what numbers are permanent increases and which ones are temporary?  Like the angel that adds (strengthening angel?).
