Title: Faith Among Corruption vs. Banquet
Post by: dermo4christ on August 05, 2018, 10:17:55 PM
Can FAC negate and dc Banquet? FAC reads " place in territory: you may discard this card to negate and discard the last evil enhancement played by an opponent or an evil enhancement in play. Cannot be negated if used by a flood Survivor." Banquet reads " discard all evil characters in battle. Protect all lost souls from Rescue by a hero this turn."

Yes, it targets it as the last played, it has to be placed prior to banquet play though.

As long as you somehow get it placed during the same phase as banquet was played I don't think it necessarily needs to be placed before banquet.

yes this is true, however banquet kills every evil character in battle, you don't get inish, battle resolution kicks in, battle phase over, theoretically how are you placing it after banquet?

I mean if for some reason someone played banquet and then used an add to battle ability to extend the battle. Then someone could get inish to play FAC and use then to target Banquet.

Battle resolution doesn't automatically kick in just because all the evil characters died. Battle only ends when both players decide they want to move to resolution. If battle ended the instant your last EC died Gates of Hell would be pretty useless ;)

in this case only 1 player can stop resolution from kicking in, the player that played banquet. The attacker cant just refuse resolution from starting because they want to play something when they are tecnicaly winning the battle,

You are correct though, as Josiah said they could add an evil character back to battle for some reason  ;D

They can't play an enhancement of course but they can still delay moving to battle resolution as long as they want to play dominants, trigger abilities, etc.

Perhaps somewhat more likely: if Banquet was played in a side battle, and no more EEs are played before the hero has initiative in the main battle, you could use the "negate last" of FAC to stop Banquet.

Banquet kills the evil character in main battle too if played in side battle, unless the main battles is protected somehow.

Yes you can play doms and trigger abilities. All that I'm saying is short of them adding to battle and giving you inish  there is no way to place faith among after banquet has been played. Unless there is a supper secret play that I've never been shown. In which case I'm mad nobody has shown me yet, haha

I attack with Abraham with Helmet of Brass or Faith of Abraham, they block Nebby and play Banquet from deck, I play Faith Among Corruption. My apologies for holding out on you until now.

David w/ Throne, blocked by Nebby/Banquet, David plays Not Alone via Throne, bands in Ethiopean Treasurer and a Blue Hero who plays next FAC, win.  8)

It was placed well before banquet.....and wow that sparked a lot of discussion. And Josiah that deck is rediculous! The speed plus the Jehu Asahel combo is making me obsess much!!!!
