Title: Esau a Cannanite?
Post by: megamanlan on April 27, 2012, 07:57:37 PM
I'm wondering, shouldn't Esau be a Cannanite or at least an Edomite?

The only evil identifier I can think of is "magician".  And there are Red Canaanites, so yes if you consider all Canaanites evil.

Civilizations =/= evil or good by birth.

Demon is also an "evil only" identifier

I'm reasonably sure Heretic is the third and last evil identifier.

Esau wasn't a Canaanite, he was a Hebrew, and he doesn't get the Edomite identifier for the same reason Jacob doesn't get the Israelite Identifier.

This has yet to be explained to me. As far as I can tell. He built the city of Edom so he should at least be an Edomite and I thought that the Edomites are still Cannanites.

I would rule Esau to be an Edomite if such an identifier becomes necessary, but from what I have seen, Edomites were distinct from Canaanites, so he should not be a Canaanite.

Okay, I wasn't sure about the Cannanite part.
