Title: End the Battle....
Post by: 777Godspeed on June 12, 2019, 01:22:19 PM
Deceitful Sin -  If you have not used a search ability this turn, end the battle.

Does this actually "end the battle" ?
example - Opponent is attacking with a 8/8 Hero (SA not applicable). I block with Ashpenaz 2/2, have inish and play Deceitful Sin 1/3. My numbers are now 4/5 to opponent 8/8 and they can't negate. Do we both return to territory as the battle is simply ended or do I lose as my numbers don't create a stalemate or successful block?

Are end the battle SAs going to be revisited as just that "end the battle" period, full stop. No trying to get stalemate numbers and such. Play it as it reads "End the Battle". This would be another way to streamline a commonly read SA, but in Redemptionese can become somewhat confusing to players.

Godspeed,
Mike

You lose as numbers are still compared.  End the battle just takes you to battle resolution.

+1 The one exception is the new Unsuccessful (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thejambi/RedemptionLackeyCCG/master/RedemptionQuick/sets/setimages/general/048-Unsuccessful.jpg), which is an automatic stalemate.

+1 except Technically “Battle Neutralized” does this as well

My next question would be is EtB going to be revisited after Nationals? The possibility was intimated in this thread...

I personally believe EtB should remain the way it is.

Confusing to new players and players that have not been taught otherwise?   ::)
If it can be realigned to how it reads intuitively and not create a huge power drift, it should at least be revisited.  :2cents:

It's hard to say that it is intuitive the same for everyone. It could be argued that it is naturally intuitive as is. But I can see where the non intuitive part is ( I made this mistake in deckbuilding around 8 yrs ago.) I think some clarification text in parentheses may be needed if it can fit. Redemption can be a tough game rule and ability wise.

I can see how an end the battle ability could be confusing to new players, but when compared to other truly confusing abilities/rules (Wicked Lost Soul being CBN even though it’s ability doesn’t say CBN, cascade negates that skip CBI/CBN abilities, negated drawn and played card abilities like Words of Encouragement but remain on the table, etc etc etc) it’s a pretty easy thing to remember once learned. But I see it as more intuitive the way it’s currently played (as the Schaffer said) as opposed to it not being intuitive.

Maybe just changing it to "resolve the battle" in future cards might make it a bit clearer. Then it's clear that you are just moving to battle resolution. I also don't see the way it's currently played as unintuitive but understand why some people might get confused by it.
