Title: Corrupt People Question.
Post by: Red on July 06, 2016, 02:06:14 PM
The relevant part of the ability says - "If you are attacked, you may discard a card from hand or territory to search deck or discard pile for an evil Genesis 6 Enhancement."

I assume I'm not able to use that ability by sticking him into battle if he was negated out of battle.

Correct. By the time he enters battle the "when you're attacked" trigger has passed.

It says "If you are attacked", not "When...". does that make a difference?

Not in English. In order to change forms it would have to say "if you are being attacked." "When" would have been a more precise word to use, but "if" means the same thing in this case.

Would it trigger when opponent is taunting?

Yes.

I'm not so sure. There's no definition of "attack" in the REG (that I could find) and afaik only evil cards have the "if attacked" wording which has always meant to me that heroes attack and evil characters defend/block (since good cards use "if blocked" wording).

Is there an official definition of "attack"/"attacked"?

Convert uses this verbiage (italics mine), "If a convert ability creates a Hero blocking in battle or an Evil Character attacking" seeming to indicate that heroes don't normally block and ECs don't normally attack.

All instances of "attack" in the REG are either in reference to attacking heroes or in card titles.

You're correct that there is presently no definition of "attack" in the REG. It's probably a good idea to add that.

Under normal conditions only Heroes attack and only Evil Characters block. Taunt is not a normal condition though. It's a special ability that has been granted to two Evil Characters thus far that allows them to perform an action otherwise not possible by an Evil Character - attack.
