An event might have happened in a recent game with Britta that makes me curious.
She tried to convert my Men of Judah (Red brigade 12/12 "Each time this card is about to be discarded, instead return it to territory with abilities decreased 3/3. May band...") to a brown brigade EC. It occurred to me, if I was to sacrifice MoJ as an evil character, when their ability activated, would they return as a 9/9 brown evil character, or a 9/9 red Hero?

Heroes always lose their SA when converted to ECs.
(If they kept it, they'd remain an EC when it activated.)
-
Could someone remind me of the reason why heros lose thier abilities when converted?
-
I think the reason was they thought it wouldn't be good for the game (i.e. it goes against the purpose of the game) for people to intentionally convert their heroes to use powerful SA's. Also, it ends the debate about what "hero-like" abilities could and couldn't be used as EC's.

correct. Heroes converted to ECs ALWAYS lose their abilities. ECs converted to Heroes sometimes lose their SA.
