Title: Converted evil characters
Post by: franta012 on March 28, 2010, 02:03:01 PM
I couldn't find in the REG information about evil characters retaining their special abilities when converted.  Specifically, I'm looking at King Amon.

Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 3 / 4 • Class: None • Special Ability: If Manasseh is in your discard pile, search discard pile for one evil enhancement with an O.T. reference. • Play As: If Manasseh is in your discard pile, search discard pile for one evil enhancement with an O.T. reference and put in hand. • Identifiers: OT Male Human, King (Judah), Royalty, Fought Earthly Battle • Verse: II Kings 21:23-24 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Uncommon) • Background

Here's some information I found on the boards; disregard the evil weapons:
I'm pretty certain that the rules for converted evil weapons would be the same as converted Evil Characters: If it harms a hero, or does something a hero can't do (like bands in an EC, etc.) then it doesn't work. I would say that you could use Axe to discard a Fortress from a converted Babylonian.

Some good search abilities allow a player to search for an evil card (Search, Zaccheus, etc), however I was wondering if this works.  This specifically searches for an evil OT enhancement.  Does it work?  It seems un-hero-like, but there are a few precedents to the contrary.

It works. A Hero Caiaphas can still search your deck for High Priest's Palace or an evil Sadducee. As long as you are not directly affecting another Hero (in play or set-aside, heroes in hands and draw piles don't count), or doing something a Hero can't do legally (play an EE, band to an EC), then it is allowed.

It should work due to the fact that the sa is not "harming" any heroes. Also It could be something that a hero would do. I am not sure if there are any examples of it though

There are no Heroes that search for EE's by themselves, but Battle Prayer (Wa) and Great Faith (W) can both get either good or evil enhancements.

*facepalm* I can't believe this combo has been staring us in the face for years and I've never abused it.

I can't think of any ways this character would be more useful as a hero than an EC.

Hero abilities are always easier to activate than EC's. You can do it on battle challenges and it isn't stopped by FBTN Heroes, etc. It's not always an advantage to block with a 3/4 Black EC, but it's much easier to attack with a 3/4 Hero of a color you choose.

This is no loger a requirement.  As long as it doesn't effect a hero in a novel way you are good to go.

In other words, just make sure that the EC doesn't force any heroes to read. *shudder*

Change your pic BB! It haunts me in meh dreams....or would it be nightmares? *shrugs*
But I don't like the fact of converting him for the fact his ability doesn't help you in the battle you are in now. It only helps your defense. So you would have to waist your holy grail on him to get him to the color you need.

It really is a great ability.  There are many converted ec's that would work great as heroes.  Hmmm...

If I convert Naaman to a hero and he is discarded he goes back to my territrory as red.Or is he healed and stays in battle?

If you convert Namaan before the first time he is about to be discarded, then he is still healed and converted to a red brigade hero the first time he is about to be discarded. The fact that he is already a hero does not stop him from healing and converting. Also, healing does not keep a character in battle. I hope this answers any questions you have about Namaan. :)

Uh. I'd say he is in your territory as a red brigade hero.

Yes, I was hoping since it was his ability and doesn't say back to territory that he would return to battle as red hero.

Any time a character is healed it is returned to territory.
