If I convert a Philly, can I still D2, play?  As far as I know, an ability is only lost if it allows one to play an evil enhancement.

Yes. I believe the only Horsey enhancement that doesn't let you play when converted is Egyptian Horses, since it specifies Evil Enhancement.
