Title: Characters Brought into Battle
Post by: golgotha on May 30, 2009, 09:14:21 AM
So I remember the thread on Perpetual Priesthood and Priests of Christ, and thought I'd ask. I've always thought when you bring a character into battle, by banding or a card like Perpetual Priesthood, if applicable their ability activates. Like if you played Sound the Alarm and banded in Abishai, he would still be able to band in a red brigade Warrior Class Hero. Or if The Strong Angel gets banded into battle, his ability kicks in and makes the battle by the numbers and kicks himself out of it. Is there a difference between banding someone into battle, and exchanging them?

There is, in the fact that an exchange is not a band - you are only swapping the locations of two cards.  So things that stop bands don't stop exchanges.

With regard to your question, exchanging a character or Enhancement into battle activates that card's special ability, the same as it is brought into play any other way.

Apparently, though, PoC's search ability wouldn't work because a blocker has already been presented. (I really don't think this makes a difference, but what can I do?)

Well, right, but that's because of the condition on the card.  Technically, it activates but does nothing (I tend to call those a fizzle).
