Title: CBN, CBI, or CBP?
Post by: emonier on April 01, 2018, 01:06:54 PM
Hey guys,

Which is the most powerful -- CBN, CBI, or CBP?

(Is there one that is more difficult to stop than the others?)

And, can you negate a card that has CBI or CBP?

Thank you,

Eric

Cannot be negated is the most powerful.

Cannot be negated can't be stopped. (Unless it's tossed by something like Coliseum)

You can negate a cannot be prevented but you cannot negate a cannot be interrupted.

Here's the easiest way to think of it:

Cannot be negated -- Cannot be stopped by anything played before or after CBN card is played

Cannot be prevented -- Cannot be stopped by anything played before CBP card is played

Cannot be interrupted -- Cannot be stopped by anything played after CBI card is played

And just to clarify, I'm not using the word "stopped" as a Redemption term, just as a general term.

TL:DR CBN is best.

There are two different times an ability can be negated: before and after it was played. Prevent stops abilities before they go off, interrupt stops them after. Negate works both ways.
CBP stops a card from being prevented (and negated before it goes off) but it can still be interrupted (or negated after it goes off). CBI can be prevented, but if it's not you can't interrupt or negate it after it's played. CBN is unstoppable - doesn't matter if it's prevented or if you have an interrupt, it goes off anyway.

EDIT: instaposted x2

This actually helps me out too, thanks!

Okay,

What about CBI...

If it is CBI, then it cannot be negated either, right?

(Because to negate something, you must interrupt it first, right?)

Thanks,

E

You cannot negate something that has CBI after it has been played, no.

You cannot negate something that has CBI after it has been played, no.

But if you negate something prior to the CBI ability activating then you’re preventing the ability from activating. For example, if I have Covenant with Death active (Negate characters), if you rescue with David the Shepherd, whose ability is CBI, his ability won’t work because once I activated CwD I interrupted all current, active SAs on characters then prevented their ability. CwD is now an on-going prevent so that means when David’s ability tries to activate when he enters battle it won’t because it is being prevented by CwD; his CBI modifier doesn’t do anything.

So cards with CBI can be prevented (as long as the prevent happens first)?

Thanks
