Faith of Samuel

Do Cloud heroes brought into battle with Faith of Samuel have to share the same book with the non-Cloud heroes in order to draw 3?

Or does Faith of Samuel split the heroes into mutually exclusive groups, and the non-Cloud heroes are the ones that need to share a book?

I actually think the second view is correct, but I'd like to see what everyone else thinks.  If everyone else agrees with me, there's no need to argue for it  :D

Faith of Samuel - Interrupt the battle.  Hero may band to any number of human heroes.  If all of those heroes are Cloud heroes or share the same book, you may draw 3.

There are two possible conditions that can be met in order for the draw 3 to trigger.

A) All Heroes banded into battle have the cloud icon at the bottom left of the picture.

B) All Heroes banded into battle have the same book in the reference.

If either one of those conditions are true, then draw 3. If you happen to meet both conditions at the same time, you still only draw 3.

Ok, that makes sense.  I was reading the card wrong.  Thanks.

EDIT:  So I'm curious...  If there was an EE printed that said:

"If all of your Evil Characters are Roman or Greek, discard a hero."

...You are saying the only way to discard a hero would be for either ALL of your ECs to be Roman, or ALL of your ECs to be Greek?  So if you had 5 ECs comprised of 3 Romans and 2 Greeks, this EE wouldn't discard a hero?  Because I can tell you, if I read the ability "If all your ECs are Romans or Greeks", I'm thinking to myself "I meet this condition as long as each of my ECs in play is either a Roman or a Greek".

If this EE was intended to operate like Faith of Samuel, I'd word it like this:

"If all of your Evil Characters are Romans, or if all of your Evil Characters are Greek, discard a hero."

It's just that "or" statements, when used in logic, are mutually exclusive; if one of the two mutually exclusive conditions is true, then the whole statement is true.  Which leads me to believe that Faith of Samuel should be reworded as "If all of those heroes are Cloud heroes, or if all of those heroes share the same book, you may draw 3", if you want it to work as stated above.

That would certainly be a more clear approach to wording it. We're past the point of being able to make changes to the cards though so we'll have to live with this one as is. I'll certainly keep that in mind for the wording on future cards if space allows.

To be interpreted as you describe I would expect the hypothetical card to read "If all of your Evil Characters are Roman and Greek, discard a hero." I see how that could also be interpreted to mean all ECs must meet both qualifiers though (even if there is no such character).

FTR, we messed with the wording on Faith of Samuel a number of times to ensure it didn't cause confusion the way Revolt has done. Ironically we noticed the problem on Faith of Samuel and began fixing last fall but still didn't know about Revolt until someone pointed it out. ::)

I guess for further clarification if someone were to only chose to band to 1 hero they would automatically meet the requirements to draw or does the card require heros indicating plural to be banded in for those conditions to apply? I feel I'm being overly analytical an nitpicky here but I figured I should ask anyways in case I was wrong.

I would rule that all means all, even if all only means one.
Just one more thing...

Haha I thought that that was the case but just wanted to be overly cautious. Honestly in many situations just banding in 1 hero is enough to win a battle. I just want to use it to band in Ahimelek win the battle and draw cards. :)
