Title: Can you protect from protection.

For example, will Thaddeus stop Bel's Banquet?

Yes. Thad-Rad will stop Bel's Banquet, assuming that the EC is below Thad's X Value.

However - Thad-Rad doesn't protect Wives from her own protection, and other similar scenarios.

To elaborate on the second part, a character cannot be protected from themselves, so thad can't protect wives from protecting herself.

It is worth adding that only characters cannot be protected from themselves...any other card type can be.

Also note protection can only affect abilities while it is active and not suspended.  If it is interrupted (like interrupting Abigail with Horses and playing Banquet) or not active when an ability is played, it cannot protect from that ability.
